We facilitate life-changing experiences for AT-RISK AND SPECIAL NEEDS youth through mentoring and outdoor adventures.

At-Risk Youth is defined as "less likely to transition into adulthood." Major contributing factors include poverty, family instability and dysfunction (i.e. Fatherlessness), and adverse childhood experiences.

Helping to build stronger children

“It is easier to build strong children, than to repair broken men.”
-Frederick Douglas

Partnering with Local Big Brothers and Big Sisters , as well as other like-minded community organizations, our staff and volunteers, StarGazer Outreach uses the great outdoors as our classroom while focusing on experiences that build trust, character, and confidence.

Who We Are

Stargazer Outreach focuses on mentoring children 7-18 at various locations in Southwest Va., including Smith Mountaln Lake, and Pinellas County Fl.

Adventures

Stargazers have the opportunity to explore the great outdoors through fishing, hiking, rafting, canoeing, and other excursions led by mentors and volunteers.

Get Involved

We’re looking for mentors and organizations who share our mission in helping underprivileged children.

Providing Stability for At-Risk Youth

Many of today’s major problems (divorce, drugs, trauma, homelessness, poverty) are all in some way tied directly to the dissolution of the two parent household. Our organization focuses on mentoring children who are forced to live in these circumstances by no fault of their own.

Stargazer Outreach provides children the opportunity to participate in unique nature-oriented activities that will help them gain the confidence and life skills needed to thrive during adulthood. Children receive one-on-one and group attention from vetted and trained mentors who provide guidance and insight during each excursion. Adventures are chosen from a list of established organizations and businesses who support our mission and include fishing, rafting, hiking, rock climbing, camping, and more.

Together, Stargazers and mentors form strong bonds as they learn unforgettable life lessons throughout their journeys together.

Become a Volunteer

Our long-term mentoring program involves structured outdoor experiences focusing on at-risk kids and is intended to be a proactive anti-drug, anti-gang, and anti-poverty strategy. Our mentors create safe outdoor spaces for kids to develop self confidence, learn valuable life lessons, and have fun!

Mentors are asked to commit to two hours a week of volunteer services that span the course of one year. We’re also seeking volunteers to donate talents (leading an excursion) or resources.
